It's Fancy letterpress Studio is now the official name for Defiance Presses. We now officially have a website for our letterpress studio! It's Fancy Letterpress Studio.

The day of Defiance Presses has arrived! Our Chandler & Price 10" x 15" Letterpress has been brought back from the dead.

Our letterpress was purchased through Skyler Shipley of Skyline Type Foundry in Illinois. Who by the way has his fair share of mats and machines to produce metal type and borders for letterpress printers.

The press had to be rescued from an old run down printshop east of Hanibal, Missouri. Finding the small town and old shop was the easy part! For the next two hours it was a struggle between good verses evil to wrestle this 1800 lb. beast from its cave.

Once we arrived back in Kansas City inches of oil and sludge had to be scraped wiped and washed off to get it to a functional state. 6.8 lbs of sludge to be exact! With some new wires the 3/4 hp electric motor hummed like new and we were ready to get the press moving. Click to see press in action.

We have added another C & P along with 170 drawers of handset type and a 26 inch Reliance paper cutter. The Letterpress studio is up and running full speed! Now isn't it time you contacted us to do a job for you?
